Exam Rules

The examination is the entire process of assessment carried at institute/department and university level which includes both continuous and term- end evaluation. Continuous internal evaluations are conducted throughout the term. Term-end or External Examination is conducted at the end of every semester. The grading of students is done based on the relative performance of the students compared to the class. The university follows Proportion Based Relative Grading System. A student who fails in continuous / term-end evaluation of a course shall appear in subsequent examinations considered as backlog examination. Certificate of Merit for best academic performance in the program is awarded every year to the academic topper completing each degree program and eligible for award of degree at the convocation of that year.

A student is expected to meet certain eligibility criteria for the term end examination which are as follows:

  • Term Not Granted (TNG) / Course Not Granted (CNG):

Minimum 75% attendance in aggregate is mandatory for all the students to be eligible to appear for the external examination of all courses of the term.

  1. If the aggregate attendance is below 75%, then the student will be awarded Term Not granted (TNG) and thus will not be granted the permission to appear for the term- end examination.
  2. Further, if the student’s attendance in a particular course is below 75%, then the student will be awarded Course Not Granted (CNG) and thus will not be granted the permission to appear for the examination of the concerned course.
  • Allowed to Keep Terms (ATKT):

A student will attend classes of all the years with his / her batch. The following rule will be applicable as per the total number of semesters in a programme:

  1. He/she cannot appear for end Semester-5 exams if he / she has CGPA less than 4.00 up to Semester-2 irrespective of number of backlogs in Semester - I.
  2. He/she cannot appear for end Semester-6 exams if he/she has CGPA less than 4.00 up to Semester-3 irrespective of number of backlogs up to Semester - II.
